The Burkina Faso government reshuffled its Cabinet on Monday, appointing two new ministers and renaming several ministerial departments.
The new cabinet comprises 22 members, including five women and three deputy ministers, according to the African Press Agency (APA).
Among the most notable changes, the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs has been renamed the Ministry of War and Patriotic Defence. General Célestin Simporé was reappointed to the post and retains his rank as Minister of State.
Two new figures joined the government. Annick Pickbougoum Zingué was appointed Minister of Sports and Recreation, replacing Roland Somda. Her appointment follows the early elimination of Burkina Faso’s national football team, the Stallions, from the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Moumouni Zoungrana was also named Minister of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training.

The reshuffle includes broader structural changes, with several ministries renamed or removed. The Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Security has become the Ministry of Servants of the People, with Mathias Traoré remaining in charge.
The Ministry of Urbanisation and Housing has been renamed the Ministry of National Construction and continues to be led by Mikaïlou Sidibé. The Ministries of Infrastructure and the Environment were removed from the government structure.
Also, the Ministry of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity has been renamed the Ministry of Family and Solidarity. The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene is now the Ministry of Health, while the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights has been shortened to the Ministry of Justice.
Leadership of these three ministries remains unchanged, with Pélagie Kaboré, Lucien Jean-Claude Kargougou, and Edasso Rodrigue Bayala retaining their respective posts.
